Indeed, I like a challenge, but not artificially imposed ones, like having to get extra powerful with repetitive battles that are not conducive to really anything. (There may have been a required unsolvable puzzle as well that was fortunately patched.)Ĭarradice: Thank you for the advice. I remember there being an optional puzzle that was unsolvable. Some attacks have the wrong stat dependence (I believe one of the Sorcerer's spells that does damage over time is based off strength rather than intelligence, or something like that, for example).

Damage over time effects are also useful. Also, you may find them in monsters you don't expect, like the Minotaur, so you may find yourself with some useful status effect even if you don't plan for it. * Status ailments are extremely powerful, to the point of being unfair (particularly if an enemy decides to put your party to sleep). (In a "let's play video", there was one fight where an enemy used an attack that took away more than half the party's health, and then another enemy used the same move.) It starts moderately challenging (with difficulty being a major factor) and then gets easy.at least until you start getting regularly wiped out by normal encounters. Hard is enough of a challenge without requiring powerleveling, while 1980's *does*. * Unless you like to powerlevel (what some players refer to as "grinding"), don't play 1980's mode. Carradice: Also, Paper Sorcerer is available for peanuts.
